with the key in my hand
as soon as we can
we'll run
we'll sprint
far away from this land
From disease, corruption, fear and lies
We'll turn and be on our way
The future looks bleak and hazy, I know
But we'll find the door someday
But just where we shall run off to
I haven't a faintest clue
To Paris, Egypt, Russia, or France
I don't care as long as it's with you…
So it's quite a shame that I won't be.
*hears gunshot*

The last piece of work I'll be submitting for 2011, and fittingly a piece of literature. The poem could be symbolising the "gone with the old, in with the new" saying... or maybe I'm just trying too hard to say something good about it.
